Auditions for the North Shore Symphony Orchestra

The North Shore Symphony Orchestra has openings for 2011-2012 in all string sections, and limited openings for percussion, woodwinds and brass. Auditions for new orchestral members will be held on an as-needed basis beginning in September, 2011 by prior arrangement with the Music Director/Conductor. Audition requirements: Please prepare two short contrasting excerpts from a solo or concerto of your choice, or prepare two to three contrasting orchestral excerpts. The North Shore Symphony Orchestra, now in its 51st season, is one of Long Island’s most established community orchestras. Over 70 members of the North Shore Symphony Orchestra rehearse weekly at JFK High School in Plainview-Old Bethpage on Thursday evenings from 8 to 10:30 p.m. with Music Director & Conductor Susan Deaver. Each year NSSO presents a series of four concerts. The first concert of its 50th season - NSSO's "50th Anniversary Gala Concert" - was on Sunday, November 21, 2010. at the Tilles Center for Performing Arts at the CW Post Campus of LIU in Brookville, NY and included music of Strommen, Arnold, Tchaikovsky and Brahms.
