Anton Polezhayev

Violinist Anton Polezhayev won “Grand Prix" at the International Violin Competition of Pierre Lantier in Paris, France, 1997, as well as numerous other competitions, awards and scholarships. Mr. Polezhayev was a member of the New York Philharmonic from 2002 to 2004, and prior to the Philharmonic, a member of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra from 2000 to 2002. In addition to his recital and teaching schedule, Anton Polezhayev currently holds the position of Associate Concertmaster with Orchestra Sinfonica do Estado de Sao Paulo, Brazil.

As a soloist and recitalist Mr. Polezhayev was featured on the cover of Part 2 of Newsday on October 21, 1992, and the New York Times on January 18, 2004, and has performed on radio and television. His credits also include performances at the International Concert Series at Hofstra University, Tilles Center, Alice Tully Hall in New York City, and numerous concert halls in Europe and Russia. Mr. Polezhayev was educated at the Manhattan School of Music where he studied with Dr. Albert Markov (1993-1999) and Principal Associate Concertmaster of New York Philharmonic Ms. Sheryl Staples (1999-2001). Mr. Polezhayev was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 1976, and at age 5 began his violin studies at the Central Music School of Moscow State Conservatory. Mr. Polexhayev was re-appointed as the Artist-in-Residence with the North Shore Symphony Orchestra for the 2009-2010 season which will continue to involve him as a featured soloist as well as concertmaster. He will also give master classes as part of NSSO’s Educational Outreach Program as part of a Legislative Grant awarded to the the North Shore Symphony Orchestra.

NSSO has been fortunate to have the talented and experienced Jeong-Yoon Park as Principal Cellist for the past two seasons. Ms. Park comes to NSSO having trained and performed widely on the international music scene.

Educated in South Korea and Germany, she holds a Ph.D. in music from the Hochscule fur Musik in Wuerzburg, Germany, a Master's from Detmold, Germany, and a BA degree from Seoul National University.

Ms. Park's artistry has been recognized with several awards, including a First Prize in the Korean Times Competition and the Tibor Varga Scholarship from the Swiss Lion's Club. An active performer and recitalist, she has appeared with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, as Principal Cellist with the Seoul Metropolitan Orchestra, as soloist with the Seoul Metropolitan Youth Orchestra, and with the Yewon Orchestra and Detmold Kammerorchstra. She has also been a faculty member in the Gloville Conservatory of Dongduk Women's University and is currently on the faculty of the Long Island Conservatory.
