ETHAN YIP, CELLO
Ethan Yip is currently a freshman at Herricks High School. He began his cello journey at the age of 7 and has since developed a deep passion for music. At age 10, he was accepted into the Manhattan School of Music's pre-college division, where he studies under Marion Feldman. Throughout his time at MSM, Ethan has been recognized with several prestigious scholarships, including the Marion Feldman Scholarship, Dianne Danese Flagello Scholarship, Jocelyn Gertel Scholarship, and the Nancy Kissinger Scholarship.
In addition to his studies at MSM, Ethan is a proud member of the New York Youth Symphony chamber music program, where he collaborates with fellow young musicians to explore diverse repertoire and perform. In 2025, he was awarded a scholarship to attend the Greenwood Senior Music Camp. This year, he was
accepted into the Meadowmount Summer Music Program and the Juilliard Summer Music Program.
Ethan's talent has also earned him accolades in competitions, including 2nd prize at the International Grande Music Competition, 1st prize at the Prima Volta Music International Competition, and a finalist in the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Program. He has performed at respected venues such as Merkin Hall, Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Steinway Hall, and the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts.
