The North Shore Symphony Orchestra, Long Island’s most established community orchestra, has openings in all string sections, and limited openings for woodwinds, brass and percussion. Current openings include:
Auditions for new orchestral members will be held on an as-needed basis. All auditions must be scheduled in advance. Please contact the NSSO at nssorchestra@gmail.com to schedule.
Audition requirements: Please prepare two short contrasting excerpts from a solo or concerto of your choice, or prepare two to three contrasting orchestral excerpts.
Over 70 members of the North Shore Symphony Orchestra rehearse weekly at JFK High School in Plainview-Old Bethpage on Thursday evenings from 8:00 to 10:30pm. Each year NSSO presents a series of four concerts. Past repertoire has included Brahms and Schumann Symphonies, Mahler Symphony No. 1 & No. 4, Elgar Enigma Variations, Hindemith Symphonic Metamorphosis, Holst The Planets, Rimsky-Korsakov Scheherazade, symphonies of Mozart and Haydn, as well as standard overtures and concertos.
